Well, this page started out as a normal MiscTale page, but ended up more as a Christmas 2014 Shopping List! I am posting this earlier rather than later just in case someone wants to buy that special gift.

PS – I have no association with any of these companies, nor do I receive any awards for advertising their merchandise.

The Lighthouse Keepers

This book The Lighthouse Keepers by Stuart Buchanan was brought to my attention by an Australian resident. It is small, only 282 pages, but according to this Google Books report it contains a lot of information:

Illustrated personal account of work and life on a Queensland light station – most of which are now unstaffed. Includes a list of 1200 Queensland light-keepers from 1857 to 1994 and the first issue of instructions to light-keepers issued in 1917. The author joined the Commonwealth lighthouse service in 1973 and worked with his wife as light-keepers along the Queensland coast until the destaffing of all Australian lighthouses began in 1982. – Google Books

Build a Gingerbread Lighthouse for Christmas

1457729_227027730804333_1283741170_nAuthor and friend Elinor DeWire posted the photo at left on her Facebook page.

I was interested to see if it was real or not so I did a Google Image Search for the photo and look what I found!

This is definitely a gingerbread lighthouse and the page below from Coastal Living has the instructions.

Legoland Lighthouses

Legoland lighthouse

Probably most of you have heard of Legoland Parks. Like the Disney parks, they seem to be all over the world, but the one I am going to speak about is Legoland Park California at 1 Legoland Drive, Carlsbad, California, 92008, USA

Legoland Interactive Park Map

I have mentioned Lego lighthouses as model kits before in posts, but in this park there are large lighthouse replicas – one of mention is in the New England Harbour area (see the interactive map at the left).

Wow, I do not know where to begin! Take a look at some of the beautiful creations in the photo below. Click the photo to take you directly to the page. For others follow the links on the left. Model Lighthouse Woodworking Plans

Have you ever wanted to build your own lighthouse for a lawn display, sitting in the house, or maybe on the beach as a decoration, or how about a bird lighthouse? I received a notice about free lighthouse plans. Following the lead I came to a website that asked for US $67 for their free plans. Not really wanting to spend that much money, I started a Google Search. I found this model lighthouse below at U-Bild.com. Not a bad price either.

Lighthouse (Plan #860)

But it does not end there. They have a Lighthouse Value Plans package that gives you three lighthouses to build – Lighthouse Plan #C159. This package includes the plan above Continue reading
